A writing app for world builders

Hi, I'm Lindsay! I'm a software engineer who loves writing, and I made Zephyrwrite to have the kind of writing app that I've always looked for.

Creating worlds, characters, stories, it all just spoke to me. In high school, I always carried a spiral notebook for the ever-evolving world that I was creating. When I got to a computer, I'd type it all up, and share it with my friends. We had a blast creating stories and sharing them, but even more than that, I love the act of world building.

A lot of writing doesn't make it into a final draft. Character notes, story arcs, parts of the world that you love but don't make it to the final cut. That part of the writing process matters too, and it shapes how the finished draft turns out. It's how you keep your eye on plot holes and dangling threads, as well as making sure you've got enough foreshadowing to carry through to the climax.

Zephyrwrite exists because I wanted an app that works how I do, that puts as much emphasis on world building and outlining as it does in the writing experience itself. Story events appear as you're writing, note taking and outlining are as fluid as drafting. A history log for all your changes, allowing you to back up and go down a different path without stress. A way to share a world that is uniquely yours with the world.

While the world we live in is so full of generative AI products, Zephyrwrite is proudly free of all AI features, and includes a per-file history as you write that records your creative process.

I can't wait to see what you'll write next!
